each step carries me closer
to the eternal grave.
Yet I long for the peace I’ll find there,
the complete silence of the tomb –
something I’ve missed
since long before the womb,
because this world I’m not meant for
with its full degrees of pain;
that’s why I’m not afraid to die,
and walk peacefully on death’s lane,
longing to embrace the end:
Death holds such possibilities;
no need for tears, my friend.
This is the course I’ve chosen,
where infinite paths wait,
so unlike living,
where emptiness crowds my plate.
So as each minute passes,
counting closer to my demise,
know that I’ve lived deeply –
but now, time for goodbyes.
